Hey folks. Would love to join! Have made a few connections in the space in the past few years & confident other members will vouch for me.
I currently moderate the BitcoinCashers discord, and through the BCA I have help meet-ups as well as sponsored expos for the purpose of increasing BCH adoption.
I also dabble in some code. This was released something like 18 hours before memo deployed theirs. https://github.com/JettScythe/MemoBirb

@JettScythe
Good to get your application. Can you please provide a legacy BCH/BTC address for voting purposes?

General info:
The next Bitcoin Unlimited membership vote is scheduled for about November, and this will include a BUIP listing the new membership applications in this thread.

It is great to see new people interested in BU. New members are welcome, however, to preserve the integrity of the organisation long-term it is important that they are wisely chosen by the existing members. In order that this can be done it is therefore important to see a good biographical summary, a clear vision concerning Bitcoin's future and links to historic on-line posting history and writings on Bitcoin, cryptocurrency, or any associated disciplines in science - such as economics, computing, mathematics, psychology etc.

We require a Bitcoin address (zero balance, never used) which can be used to sign messages during future votes on BU improvement proposals.

The BU Articles of Federation are here.

@solex Fresh address specifically for voting: 18EChYmw66RLTvRqUYLSp6Ggh9Qt8edzto

As far as a "biographical summary" goes, there isn't much of importance. I am 21 years of age.
I have a high school education. I created and ran a sole-proprietorship at age 17, which was shut down due to bill S-5 (Canada).

I had the opportunity to go as a vendor to the Fredericton tattoo expo during 2018, 2 months before bill S-5 came into effect. While I was there I found two important things to note. 1) I was the youngest vendor there. 2) I was the only vendor there accepting cryptocurrency at all.
I had plenty of people curious about it, but even at the end of the expo I hadn't made a single sale with cryptocurrency.

During that time, I was pretty active in various facebook groups involving cryptocurrency. My favourite one was titled "AV2", funnily enough, a fork of a group titled "Anarcrypt". I had posted about my experience during the expo, and asked for suggestions to get more involved and increase adoption. From there I was directed to what was the Bitcoin Cash Fund.

I immediately became a meet-up host. Rather than just hosting an event to discuss cryptocurrency, I would host bands and form deals with local breweries in an attempt to increase turnout, and give everybody ~$3 of BCH. This is enough to at least provide upwards of a 60% discount on door prices for the bands. Patrons also had the option to buy merch from bands (most notably a local pop-punk band called Sound Drown) or drinks from the venue.
I had posted a vlog to promote the event and discuss the details: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JW81t8FMlW0&t

Quick shout out to the venue, as well as the venue manager. Eric @ People's Pub - you're the man.
https://www.facebook.com/PeoplesPub/
And a vlog with the footage of the event: I also have a lazyfox task open for anybody that wants to promote adoption in the area. https://lazyfox.io/task/Mvo/take-a-video-of-you-buying-a-drink-people-s-pub

As I said in the previous post, I had gone to the Tattoo expo again in 2019 as a /sponsor/ with the sole intention on education people on, and giving out BCH. You can view some of that trip here: & these have horrible audio, but were for my second appearance on Bitcoin Cast: &
You can view both of my appearances on Bitcoin Cast here: & https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o9PbYmUAEVk

I have made educational videos about the differences between BTC and BCH https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=foEafv-fD4Y&t= , as well as how to quickly connect your BCHD node to the Neutrino wallet https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zAqTHMlz8aE

Prior to the BCH/BSV split, I had also organized the very first Handcash coinroll https://www.yours.org/content/the-first-handcash-coinroll--aug-1st-2018--84b6fb95d952 & written about what went wrong, what could be improved. https://www.yours.org/content/what-not-to-do-organizing-a-coinroll-7f048652b503

As far as writings not related to Bitcoin, here's one I had written taking Modern History back in grade 11, recently shared on honest.cash https://honest.cash/BitcoinCashNB/the-decline-of-intellectual-property-2123

I am here primarily for "IV. Values and beliefs: adoption is paramount" of the article of federation.
I feel as though the more I learn, the more equipped I am to bring new users into the fold.

"I, JettScythe, substantially agree with the Bitcoin Unlimited Vision as defined in Article 1 and agree to work towards the success of Bitcoin as defined by Article 1. I agree to follow the rules outlined in Articles 2,3, and 4 for all matters pertaining to Bitcoin Unlimited. I further recognize that becoming a member of the Bitcoin Unlimited Federation and simultaneously working to undermine the Bitcoin Unlimited Vision will inflict substantial harm on the other members of the Bitcoin Unlimited Confederation, including but not limited to, loss of Member's time quantified by the average hourly wage of a principal engineer in the USA, loss of member monetary donations, and loss of opportunity."

I'd like to request reactivation of my membership in BU.

I took some time off from BCH to focus on methane emissions mitigation, and didn't vote in a couple of elections, so my membership lapsed. I'm being far more active in BCH again now, so I should be voting more regularly again.

Hello.

My name is Jørgen Svennevik Notland.

With this forum post, I’m hereby requesting Bitcoin Unlimited membership.

My motivation for joining is voting rights and getting more involved with and invested in the Bitcoin Unlimited organisation. A fascinating online community with a solid mission (articles of the federation), and a strong and dedicated team that I currently have the pleasure of working closely with.

I have a bachelor in informatics and an MSc in Management/Entrepreneurship. I started my academic journey with exploring blockchain-enabled trust and transparency in supply chains. The MSc is in how legal contracts can be supplemented with smart contracts. The master thesis comprises an online smart contract and an offline traditional legal contract. Where the two are immutably linked. Later it was rewritten into a short version and my brother Jakob wrote an implementation in Ethereum. The short version will be presented at an international academic conference in Trondheim, Norway.

Interest in management and organisational theory concerning blockchain is another motivation for seeking to join Bitcoin Unlimited, as its voting system and organisational work aligns perfectly with my interest and is a project I believe I can learn a lot from, but also contribute a lot too.

Besides academic work, I am currently working on Bitcoin Unlimited Improvement Proposal 129 (BUIP129). The product we are building is called VotePeer, and I am closely involved with Andrew Stone and Dagur to implement this. My main responsibility in this project is to build an Android library that any Android app can import to support voting in their app. I am also responsible for writing a scientific paper describing how VotePeer works and its rationale. Try out the VotePeer app and read more about the libraries we are developing here: https://voter.cash

In the future, I can contribute to developing and conducting future BUIPs on developing and maintaining the Bitcoin Unlimited on-chain voting system.

I sit in an office collective with startups and freelancers. Here I have access to competent:
  • Developers
  • Media people

I’m the co-founder and Organizer of open blockchain meet-up Trondheim. I can facilitate meet-ups in Bitcoin Unlimited’s name.

Experience on professional public speaking on blockchain and other subjects in Norwegian and English. Here is my profile on my public speaking agency's Norwegian website (Click here for google translate).

Access to the Norwegian blockchain community:
  • Professional: Exchanges, miners, validators, cowboys and developers
  • Academic contacts: Blockchain PHDs, computer science faculty professors

@jQrgen
Great to have your application for membership of B.U.
I note @singularity has seconded your application, so it will go forward for the membership vote in December. In the meantime, can you please supply a legacy Bitcoin address (1...) ? This is the type that is used for signing vote messages in the BU Voting system.

@dshshp1091
We need significantly more information about your track record in the Bitcoin space.
