8MB blocks would be a huge statement of intent. The price would be higher, there would be a lot more buzz. If a tx pays enough fee for acceptance in a natural fee-market then it is not spam. Forcing users to fight for block space tells the users that
they are spam, so they give up on crypto or move to alts.
