I think we'll see a flash crash (fear) in the coming days, while/because Ethereum et al. climb to new highs. After that the playing field will be equalized. I personally think bitcoin will stabilize pretty fast and this will be a clear signal of strength. Currently the developer sphere of Bitcoin becomes more diversified and this is something not yet seen, let alone been honored by the wider public. To be clear: It's the first step in the direction of a bottom-up governance structure! Implications of more than one bitcoin developer team actively writing software are not short but long term. Miner centralization which seems a big problem today will be solved in the next years due to economics (commoditization of ASICs).

Money will flow back from the peripheral altcoin markets and start a first real bitcoin pump - which will then lead to increased media coverage, while global markets decline. After a first sell-off in bitcoin, altcoins will rise proportional to bitcoin and form a healthy and interwoven crypto-ecosystem (some coins will gain market share in this process some will fall back in appreciation).

I know, that the future belongs to crypto-currencies and I know, that I am sufficiently hedged for every possible outcome. I couldn't be more relaxed regarding the block size drama. What I learned from my days as Bitcoin maximalist is, that over-investment is never a good advisor.

Ethereum jumped because of a Sunday night New York Times article (written by crypto fanboy Nathaniel Popper, formerly of The Verge). The usual buy splurge on "good news." It will come back to $10 in a few days when the massive excitement on reddit that they're going mainstream subsides.

Adam- That's what I feel like will happen too. Just wanted to see if I was alone in sentiment or not. It feels like ongoing price suppression/accumulation. I'm concerned there will be some miracle announcement about scaling agreement near halving. I dunno, something smells imho. Since HK Scaling I'm more aware of the warring factions.

It is this reasoning that makes me believe we haven't seen the top for Ethereum just yet.

Edit: I think Ethereum is imitating the 2011 Bitcoin bubble.

I continue to hold my last remaining ETH incase we see another top. and also i think in the long term its not unlikely that ETH will get to a higher price.

i can see bitcoin have a 50billion market cap
and ETH have a 10billion market cap

at some point

Gosh... $50billion is not even close to a $32k coin... that is only a $3.2K coin.

This looks interesting. Kind of looks like front-running the pre-price spike is a result of a relative increase in volume and price on local bitcoins.
very interesting.
someone bought a boat load on local bitcoin and then tried to pump market.
this whale has very deep pockets

Zanglebert- so your graphic indicates simply that price is going up and has been very volatile over the last 150 days? or volatility has increased but price stayed essentially constant?
