Good afternoon Bitcoinland. Haven't posted here in a while, just dropped in occasionally to see what's happening and see if Adam is still alive and well.

Seems the other forum is under dDOS attack again (lots of 504 errors) so I thought I'd check in and see what the reaction was to the recent price increases. I'm surprised it's so quiet.

While I expect some sort of correction fairly soon, I'm just hoping this rise continues a little more first. It's currently at $960 (CAD) according to Bitcoinaverage and I'd love to see quadruple digits again. The CAD ATH isn't that far off.

This shows the value of Bitcoin. I've made money not only on Bitcoin's rise but also on the Canadian dollar's fall. Bitcoin is a much safer haven for my retirement funds.

Hi Jimbo!

Good to hear you're doing well I didn't even realize the CAD has become this weak.

Where are the rockets and stupid humor of the Wall Observer? Has everyone become so disillusioned with what is going on in Bitcoinland that we can't cheer on a nice rally?

Much sadness

It really seems that guys are gun shy and a bit afraid to count their chickens too soon.. especially since we have been dumped on so many times in the past when we were expecting and hoping for larger upwards BTC price explosions.

i think this is a bit of a misconception.

the CAD reached as high as 1.30 to the US dollar back in 2011-2012 obviously this was a fucked up price. i think there was a lot of hype about the world ending in 2012 and this negatively affected the USD, while the CAD was being praised for having a sound economy, or somthing

we've since come back down to historically stable value of 0.75-0.80 to the dollar, while the USD eventually became (and continues to be) stronger then ever, so if anything the CAD is very much on point.

I think we'll see the USD lose some considerable value in the years to come, I go as far as to say it will lose its world reserve status as bitcoin scales up, the USD in is for a world of pain, other fiats are better off, but still I would expect to see the whole system go belly up within a decade or 2 ( maybe sooner, maybe much sooner )

Altho often outsiders see bitcoin as " hanging by a string " it is in fact the fiat system which is hanging by a string, and has been for some time. We are strong, bitcoin isn't depending on the FED making the right moves in order for it to survive, while the USD.... ya man everything hangs in the balance as yellen delivers her speech, and she has no choice but to lie Lie LIE!

one might be tempted to say " everything hangs in the balance as bitcoin chooses how it will scale" but you'd be wrong! the truth is bitcoin isn't choosing one way or the other, its doing both and going with the most successful path. we have allowed for this system to grow in 3 dimensions! its pretty mind blowing when you think about it.

Zcash is the talk of the town since it lunched a few days ago.

it sounds interesting, but when you consider that Zero knowledge proof for TX first occurred on the bitcoin blockchain, Zcash seems like a MOO point to me. dont you think?

When you add in the odd reward schedule ( 20% of coins going to dev 80% to minners )
The idea that if someone finds a bug and inflate the supply no one would ever really know because there is zero knowledge behind ever single TX that happens.
and finaly the obliviously inflated prices. (1BTC = 1Zcash -_- get real, there are plenty of "dark coin" this one is very dark big Whop. )

a big fat red sign that says STAY AWAY just doesn't cut it this time.

I am saddened by this. the bitcoiner in me feels a deep shame knowing full well this kind of thing is routine here in bitcoin land.

in other news OMNI remains unbelievably undervalued. buy Buy BUY!

@adamsgbit

https://z.cash/team.html

Can we take it that these people have turned their backs on bitcoin?
ZKP(Zero Knowledge Proofs )

zcash is a fun experiment, encrypted TX mined with ZKP? thats just crypto cool.

I can understand why poeple would want to play with it.

clearly they didnt care to much about the coin itself, they appear to have copied bitcoin without much mods if any at all, and added the ZKP setup code .

Thing is its clearly a "play thing / experiment " , the ZKP code can easily apply to bitcoin today ( in fact the first ZKP TX was on bitcoin's blockchain). but they went with a separate blockchain for 2 reasons first and foremost for the money second to more easily experiment with ZKP without having to worry about losing or spending BTC. ( lets face it 1$ pre TX is expensive as fuck for testing purposes )

so, i dont think we should think any of these poeple have "turned their backs on bitcoin"

I just think the market is excited about these coins for all the wrong reasons, Zcashes is nothing more then a proving ground for ZKP. Zcash is bullish for bitcoin because any work done on perfecting the ZKP TX setup ( which is OPEN SRC ) can be directly applied to bitcoin.

if the devs were at all confident about Zcashes future and value they wouldn't of opt'ed to take 20% of all minning into there pockets.

if you buy Zcash your funding the open src development of ZKP TX, which is really gr8, but its more of a donation then an investment.

I'm more excited about things like OMNI

because this tech is Already embedded into bitcoin, it's a new layer built on top of bitcoin's protocol. its not like i can say OMNI can easily be added/embedded to bitcoin, it already is!

i believe a huge amount of bitcoin's value comes from its recognizability, everyone knows and trust bitcoin's blockchain.

things like DASH or Zcash offer some new extensions, but it not worth investing in simply because if you take away the speculators no one gives a crap about these extension, they look like fun experiments but have MASSIVE disadvantages when it comes to using these coins as a store of value and medium of exchange. while OMNI sorta inherit bitcoin's advantages.

whats next? " Z-Dash-Coin " THAT will surely take over bitcoin its clearly superior in every way!
pfff...
nonsense.
