Prospective members are asked to provide a public key which they will use for voting. Bitcoin Unlimited is a participatory organization where we do ask that people devote a small amount of time, every couple of months to guide the direction of the software and org itself.

Only legacy addresses are used in the voting system at present,

More links to external posting history (e.g. Twitter, Medium, Facebook, Reddit) are welcome, and I'll add them here. In the current adversarial climate the links prove helpful to existing members to make their evaluation.

I will vote "NO" to @jtoomim .

Because he thinks it's impossible to send 1 megabyte across the great firewall of China in less than 17.4 seconds.

In my eyes, he might have some skills that could benefit Bitcoin Unlimited, and he is free to do this as a researcher and developer.

But I don't think he will make the organisation make better decissions.

@solex
No, he is not quoting the experiment.

I quoted the experiment when I debated with @jtoomim. And I said it was a fundamental problem with the experiment.

The problem was that the scientists performing the experiment were not incentivized like a miner to transfer data as soon as possible.

If you give my old mother enough money, she will be able to send a megabyte of data through the great firewall of China a lot faster than the internet expert @jtoomim can.

God damn it!

EDIT: People make telephone calls to China! Fuck!

EDIT2: Just to be clear to people who don't understand what I'm talking about:

A telephone call has very low latency. If you can send a small amount of data quick from Beijing to Los Angeles, you can do the same with more data. Just add more phones.

As someone who was rejected for not saying enough, I find it surprising that a BU member who often says too much and expresses such bad behaviour on this and other forums, seem to now be promoting CoinGeek's nChain. If I could vote, Jonathan Toomim would be a first choice.

Honestly, Norway, your bad temper is far from professional.

@OpenMind
Why do you want to turn this into a blue team/red team narrative?

Why do you not support the great reality that 1MB of data can be sent a lot faster than 17.4 seconds through the great firewall of China?

This is very disappointing, @OpenMind .

You accuse me of expressing bad behavior on this and other forums without any evidence, hiding behind an anonymous account.

Honestly, fuck off.

Would you still support @OpenMind's membership?

If you do, why?

Just because someone puts their name and face out there to advocate for BU or whatever else doesn't give them ANY right to belittle or dismiss those who came to a different assessment on the issue of privacy and want to participate anonymously.

In the true spirit of the Calvin Err and Craig Wrong bullying, I have heard Norway is now badgering two long time BU supporters in #general BU slack because they don't conform to his rules. Nice work. Your CoinGeek friends would be proud of you.

This is my last post on the matter.
I remain with an OpenMind in the hopes that BitcoinCash survives this mindless crap.

I'm flattered that there are new applicants for BU membership. However, they all have failed to provide an explicit motivation for becoming a be a BU member. They all seem like valuable Bitcoin (Cash) community and technical members however it is unclear to me as to why they want to be BU members.

I've decided to reject all applications as a result.

In the future I will reject every membership application, if the new member doesn't provide a proof that he / she read and understood what Bitcoin Unlimited is. A good, maybe sufficient starting point is the first section of the BU FAQ:

https://www.bitcoinunlimited.info/faq/what-is-bu

I urge every other member to do the same. The knowledge about BU has become alarmingly low on BU membership, up to a degree on which members are no longer capable to understand what a voting is about.

Second, after seeing @micropresident voting on BUIP101 for pure malice with the aim to damage BU, I will reject any membership application from ABC devs until they provided good arguments that they will vote in good spirit.

I also think that micropresident broke the rules of BU and his membership should be suspended. Members who vote in malice are a risk for Bitcoin Unlimited. Unless @deadalnix doesn't give good reasons why he voted for BUIP101 dispite being against such a change in ABC, his membership should be questioned too.

Edit: I see, deadalnix confirmed that he too voted with the intention to harm BU.
https://www.reddit.com/r/btc/comments/9m2036/deadalnix_top_abc_dev_voted_yes_to_buip_101_we/
So I suggest to also suspend his membership.
This reeks like an orchestrated infiltration of BU.

@jtoomim Do you distance yourself from the behaviour of your collegues?
