Membership vote on BU Improvement Processes

Eleven BUIPs are open for voting for five days - ending June 3rd.

Votes can be cast in two ways for the reason that the new voting system is in beta:
a) using the new BU website voting system
b) replying to this thread as in previous voting events

Votes are for/against or abstain
Votes made on the website currently require a signature per BUIP and per new member proposal, and offers btc address signing only. The two will be summed together for the result.
Votes made in this thread can have one signature to refer to multiple BUIPs.

Articles of Federation BUIPs

BUIP049: Amend AoC to change membership period

BUIP050: Double yes with tie-break question

Development BUIPs

BUIP051: Add CompactBlocks support

BUIP053: Tweakable client DoS responses

BUIP054: Make AD optional and disabled by default

BUIP055: Increase the Block Size Limit at a Fixed Block Height

BUIP056: Increase the Block Size Limit triggered by a support threshold

BUIP057: Add BIP135 support (BIP9+)

Operational BUIPs

BUIP026: Bounties for Software Exploits

BUIP052: Set up dedicated Continuous Integration

Membership BUIP

BUIP060: New Members for Election #6

All listed for membership are considered together i.e. "BUIP048 FOR" or "BUIP048 AGAINST"
Exceptions may be identified by using list number and +/- to include or exclude e.g. -88 +99 or exclusions may be made by name e.g. "AGAINST ZZZ"

Abstentions can be recorded by "ABSTAIN ZZZ" or abstain and list number
BUIP060 is considered as counted last so new members may not vote on the other BUIPs concurrent with this.

Votes need to be signed.

Please get involved. Bitcoin Unlimited is the start of a new paradigm where the membership decides on the admission of new members and operational changes requiring expenditure of funds.

Guys, please try the voting system! It is important that we get used to using it and work out any bugs, even though it might require more effort for the first few vote sessions.
[doublepost=1496101549,1496100704][/doublepost]@awemany

I voted on BUIP055 and 052. Very simple and effective interface! I love it.

One note though: the links to check the vote status seemed to go dead shortly after I voted, and then came back to life later.

Yes, there is a mandatory cache of 10s for all content, to be better prepared in case of a DDOS. I thought this is a low-enough value to not be really noticeable, but you managed to hit it.

If this becomes annoying enough, we could also rate limit per-IP in the nginx in front of it or something. Maybe the attack-happiness of our detractors made me too conservative and leaning too far on the 'keep it up no matter what'-side of things.

Also note that the ProposalVoteResult and its related hash changes whenever a vote is being counted. And if you click the back button, you'll reach an outdated page.

I have two question regarding the new voting system.

What is the meaning of spoil?

Can the action string be reduced to a shorter string or does it need to be signed as a whole?
I'm asking because with my Ledger Nano I'm limited to 140 characters and would need to use my air-gapped machine to sign larger messages. (or does someone know how to sign larger messages with a Ledger Nano?)

Explanation for "no"-votes:

BUIP054: I like AD since it gives users control. User who don't want to have this kind of control can use Classic. Instead of eliminating a valuable option we should fight the FUD against AD.

BUIP055: As I see it, this proposal is currently not needed, as Bitcoin seems to be on road to consensus with btc1. When this fails, we can reconsider BUIP055, which I like very much, but maybe combined with BUIP056 and BUIP057.

Members: Nice to see interesting new members joining our group! Welcome!

OK, I am part way through voting using the new voting system. Overall, it's working well! We are turning into a real Decentralized Organization!

A couple comments: Is there some way to "batch" votes? For the member elections, I am cutting and pasting the "action string" for each applicant, then signing in my BU client. I also notice that I have to type in my own name repeatedly. It would be nice is there were some way to batch all the votes together, and sign only once, or at least somehow pre-populate the name field (for me)

Second, I voted on BUIP054, and I notice the "action string" doesn't seem to have a human-readable identification of what is being voted on. I think, for that to give people confidence that they are actually signing the correct proposal, there should be a human-readable identifier on the thing you are signing. (ie, how do I know the voting software isn't tricking me into signing my "accept" vote for something other than BUIP054?)

Overall, really good though!
[doublepost=1496264899][/doublepost]Another note, I misspelled my name once, and on another I put in an incorrect signature. Both times it rejected the vote as invalid, so that's good! I rejects incorrect votes properly.

Wow, we have a long member list, and few members of those have voted 2 days in - we have not even reached quorum on several technical issues.

Please, take some time to review new members that want to assist the project, and ask questions if you have them on the technical proposals.

VOTE IF YOU HAVEN'T DONE SO ALREADY !

Yes, batching votes for one sig is planned as an early upgrade. Earlier, I did not expect to have so many BUIPs ready for vote, and was thinking of just a few for the first use of the voting system.

Thanks to all who are using the system and giving it a good workout!

@torusJKL
140 chars is probably not enough. You can proceed with a vote and get the action string and see whether the count is less before attempting to sign.

As an outside observer: Imho it would be nice to have the BUIP-file (pdf, txt..) prominently placed on the vote results page again. You can go back to see it or click through 2 or 3 pages to get there, but having the proposal and the current vote result on the same page would be better imho.

So far, it's nice to see BU voting in action with the visible presumable result (without having to count forum posts with 1 zillion different formattings :D). And I like that there are some controversial proposals.

Apologies for using the old voting system here, but I gather that I'd have to sign each vote separately, and I don't have time to do that right now. In addition, I believe I have to vote the old way anyway regarding the propspective members who haven't yet provided a BTC address. So old style vote follows:

BUIP049 FOR
BUIP050 FOR
BUIP051 FOR
BUIP053 ABSTAIN
BUIP054 FOR
BUIP055 FOR
BUIP056 FOR
BUIP057 AGAINST

BUIP060 @arruah AGAINST
BUIP060 @painlord2k FOR

IF8NsFR+ycRHAb8Qq3TNFBY10HmmRfoYZmmD/jfHbsOlT/NV4f1NhB01MGVNL5rDf1KTJI16ZCBtwjx9Qs7CPPg=

As always, with apologies to everyone whose application I didn't support. If I voted against your application, it's purely because you provided too little information and/or I couldn't find much substantive Bitcoin-related posting history older than the last few months based on the information you provided.

To anyone who doesn't get elected this time round, I encourage you to engage with the BU community on the forum and/or the slack and reapply next time.

I'm having problems signing with my current environment.
I need to setup a better one later today and will come back here to update the vote.

In the mean time here a condense (ledger nano friendly) message.

Hi!

I want to change my vote on BUIP056 because I misunderstood it the first time, and the new voting system doesn't allow for changes to a vote.
