Scam alert: USA pastor charged in the crypto scam says God made him do itThis headline (https://edition.cnn.com/2024/01/24/us/colorado-pastor-crypto-fraud-cec/index.html) amazed the crypto community last week. Online pastor Eli Regalado says he sold over $3 million in tokens to his community because “the Lord” told him to give his followers a 10x return.
He's released a 9-minute-long video explaining that the Lord told him to sell a crypto with no clear exit, and spend some of the proceeds on "a home remodel the Lord told us to do".
What’s more at least $1.3 million was spent on Regalado's personal expenses, including buying luxury items, home repairs, and expensive vacations. He’s waiting on a ‘miracle’ from God to help him repay investors, he says. 
However, now a church servant awaits trial, not divine, but civil.
