The sync thing in Bitcoin Unlimited

Hi. I've been waiting a week for Bitcoin Unlimted to sync. It's at about 10%. I have downloaded a huge dat file (if that helps). How do I get this thing working? I have sent coins to it and can't access them.

What's your connection speed and what type of computer are you using?
