New node launched: UMI throughput - 65,535 transactions per second!
While developing UMI, we immediately set ourselves the goal of creating a network capable of quickly processing a huge volume of transactions and fully competing with the existing VISA and Mastercard payment systems. And today we were able not only to catch up with these giants, but also confidently overtake them by as much as 2.5 times (VISA is capable of processing at its peak no more than 24,000 transactions per second).
Let me tell you one secret: the UMI blockchain was technically capable of processing 65,535 transactions per second from the very first day of launch. But we artificially limited the bandwidth, because it was not necessary and to protect against unnecessary load on the network.
And even now, despite the constantly growing number of transactions on the network, there is still no special need for such a high bandwidth (the network is still successfully handling the load). However, after about a year of optimization - as a way to reach a new level and demonstrate the capabilities of the network, we developed a new node and thereby restarted the master nodes in maximum performance mode, and also generated and sent several hundred thousand transactions to the network.
Several consecutive blocks completely filled with transactions clearly show the capabilities of the UMI network and confirm the declared characteristics.
Thus, right now the UMI network is capable of processing exactly 65,535 transactions per second - more than VISA and Mastercard (no longer in the test network, but in the main network). And all this - without harm to the environment.
To successfully demonstrate the throughput, we sent 2 transactions of 0.02 UMI to all existing addresses with a non-zero balance (symbolic in connection with the release of the second version node). There were 371,329 addresses and 742,658 transactions in total. Thanks to this, 10 completely filled blocks of 65,535 transactions were formed. The UMI network processed all transfers in 10 seconds, that is, each block in 1 second.
Thus, UMI has become the fastest cryptocurrency network in the world, which actually proved its high throughput not in the test, but in the main network. In practice, we are faster than Solana, Cardano, Free TON and everyone else.
The new node also opens the way for high-quality, convenient and fast implementation of new products based on UMI, such as products from the DeFi ecosystem (tokens, stablecoins, decentralized exchanges, etc.), new smart contracts, a coin burning mechanism, games using UMI, and etc.
And one more important point: thanks to the move to a new node, the UMI blockchain has become 6 times lighter. This will allow the network not only to continue to actively develop and scale, but also not to create an unnecessary load on the masternodes and validator nodes.
