Call for Member Bios and Headshots

A new and improved Bitcoin Unlimited website is in the works, to give our organization a more professional image. When researching how best to present the organization, a recurring theme was that we needed to better highlight the people who help make Bitcoin Unlimited a thing.

On that note, we are looking for members who would be willing to have their profiles showcased on the "About" page of the new website. This means your headshot would be visible and mousing over your name would display your bio information. The website project team will then select, at its discretion, which profiles to showcase, in a way that balances the skill sets and backgrounds of the showcased members. All members will have their names (or aliases) listed on the "About" page, unless they opt out.

If you are interested, please reply in confidence to me by PM or email, or reply publicly in this thread.

Feel free to count me in.

I'm not sure how long the bio should be, but here is a short one:

After founding several successful companies in Silicon Valley, Roger began his Bitcoin journey in February 2011.

Years before traditional venture capital firms became involved, he became the first person in the world to start investing in Bitcoin related startups, nearly singlehandedly funded the entire first generation of Bitcoin businesses.

His current investments include Bitcoin.com, Blockchain.com, Bitpay.com, Kraken.com, and many many others.

In his free time he enjoys competing in Brazilian Jujitsu tournaments.

Sounds like a wise approach. From a strictly aesthetic perspective the site looks a little "light" and this is especially true in terms of the content.

Prof. Christopher E. Wilmer began using Bitcoin in September 2011, after reading Wired Magazine's infamous article entitled "The Rise and Fall of Bitcoin." Undeterred by Wired's confident view that the Bitcoin experiment was over, Chris bought some bitcoins for $3 each and began learning to use this exciting new technology. In 2014, he co-authored his first book on Bitcoin aimed at the general public, "Bitcoin for the Befuddled," and also started the world's first academic journal for Bitcoin/cryptocurrency related research, called Ledger.

Prof. Wilmer directs a research lab at the University of Pittsburgh that uses large-scale molecular simulations, run on supercomputers, to understand and design new materials. His research group works closely with experimental chemists and materials scientists to synthesize and test promising materials. In 2012 he co-founded NuMat Technologies and was named by Forbes as one of the 30-Under-30 in Energy Innovation. Recently he was awarded an early career fellowship for promising scientists and engineers from the US National Science Foundation.

Does that work?

Majority of the best bitcoin programmers have large investment, children and don't want their face and name plastered on the internet for the same reasons. Some people are divorced or separated and likewise don't want this. So, now the best bitcoin developers are hamstrung it seems and Unlimited seems centralized by "the members". We don't like this setup. Why are members even needed? Why can't everyone freely participate? Why must all code go through a single person?

Buddy, if you think you're the best at everything, you don't need Unlimited.

Go your own way.

The whole joy of all this is you can decide to follow one way or another. If you dislike the BU model just ignore it.
