What is Hash Rate?

In simple terms, the hash rate is a measure of how much processing power the Bitcoin network has at any given time. The process of mining involves solving difficult math puzzles. Solving these equates to successfully ‘hashing’ a block of verified transactions that is then added to the blockchain. The more attempts the network performs per second, the higher the hash rate.

The Basics of Blockchain

This short article will teach you everything you need to know about the basics of blockchain technology. This is useful knowledge for anyone that wishes to understand cryptocurrencies and Bitcoin Futures Trading better.

A blockchain is essentially a form of online ledger or bookkeeping tool. Because it was designed to be both tamper-resistant and tamper-evident, it is often used to record sensitive and valuable data such as financial transactions, personal identification information, and even election voting results. However, as many already know, its most famous application has been for cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin. Without this technology at its core, crypto and bitcoin futures trading would not be possible.

What is the Insurance Fund and Auto-Deleveraging?

Phemex uses an Insurance Fund to prevent positions from becoming Auto-Deleveraged. The Insurance Fund alleviates unfilled liquidation orders on the platform before they are taken over by the auto-deleveraging system. Due to how Phemex’s platform is structured, the exchange does not require payments from traders who have negative account balances when they are liquidated in a leveraged trade. Instead, the exchange uses its Insurance Fund to ensure the winning party of a trade receives all of their expected profits, even if the losing party does not have enough to cover the winning party’s gains. The Fund grows from liquidations that were able to be executed in the market at a price better than the bankruptcy price of that specific position.

What is a Close On Trigger order?

Close on Trigger is a special order condition that is similar to Reduce Only in that it only allows you to reduce or close, but not increase your positions. In addition, once triggered, this condition cancels all other orders that apply to the same position (such as take profit or stop loss orders).

What is FIX API?

FIX API stands for Financial Information Exchange API. Like all other APIs, it is a set of communication protocols that help different systems communicate. However, FIX API was specifically designed for the transfer of financial data. In other words, it is much more optimized and dedicated to financial trading than other APIs which tend to be more broadly applicable. As such, FIX API yields much more efficient and faster results for traders.

Phemex is one of the very few exchange platforms that actually offers FIX API. This means that our traders using this protocol will benefit from faster and more optimized operations.
