Advance notice: Candidate Applications for BU Secretary, Oct 2018
Bitcoin Unlimited was founded in November 2015, and the first election for its officers took place in January 2016. The term of each elected officer is two years, although the founding officers have staggered terms in order that each position expires at different dates.
Bitcoin Unlimited: Articles of Federation Article 2(II)
"Officer term is for two years. For continuity, elections shall be staggered by 6 months and take place 1 week prior to responsibility transfer. Beginning with the President on Jan 15, 2018, then Secretary, Developer, and Pool Operator. This means that the initial officer term may exceed 2 years. Voting for all the initial officers shall occur on Jan 15, 2016."
The first Secretary was elected and subsequently resigned. A new secretary was elected effective 11 October 2016 for a two-year term.
Candidates for this position must raise a BUIP, putting their name forward for membership vote, which will be commencing in the first week of October 2018 and run for 5 days.
