On January 3, 2009, Satoshi Nakamoto generated the first block, known as the Genesis Block (block height 0), on a small server located in Helsinki, Finland, receiving the initial block reward of 50 bitcoins.

Within the Genesis Block, Nakamoto inscribed the following message: "The Times 03/Jan/2009 Chancellor on brink of second bailout for banks." This phrase was the headline of The Times, a UK newspaper, on the very same day. Nakamoto's inclusion of this text was a clear critique of the traditional banking system.

It's noteworthy that the second block of Bitcoin was mined five days later, on January 8, 2009. The first Bitcoin transaction occurred on January 12, 2009, as Nakamoto transferred 10 bitcoins to Hal Finney, an early developer of Bitcoin.

From this moment, the era of cryptocurrencies, with Bitcoin at its forefront, was officially inaugurated.
