That's one thing I've always wondered about:

How does Google train such a neural network?
Because they don't offer to learn from the user after they've translated. Or maybe I haven't noticed how?

Fascinating that it's GNMT is now going into production use on Chinese -> English translation.
Curious if I'll see a difference.

And I'm surprised at how highly Google's graph ranks machine translation on that scale from 0-6 !

good question, what I've always done is immediately translate back the translation as I can't validate the transactions, but I can verify the translation of the translation.

I imagine it's possible to write an algorithm that's able to self correct on this feedback loop and compare both outcomes to standard linguistic structure and meaning to some degree.

UK Draft Investigatory Powers (Technical Capability) Regulations 2017

https://www.openrightsgroup.org/ourwork/reports/home-office-consultation:-investigatory-powers-(technical-capability)-regulations-2017

The Home Office are consulting on their draft technical capability notices regulation. This is a short 4 week consultation concluding on 19 May with responses to: investigatorypowers@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk.

This is a ‘targeted consultation’ - and has not been publicised to the tech industry or public. The Secretary of State is in fact not under any obligation to consult the public, but instead must consult only a small selection of organisations listed in Section 253 (6) of the Investigatory Powers Act
