What to do? I wouldn't know. A position of loss is one we never want to find ourselves in, that's why after losing my investment the first time, I had to re-strategize. What would you do if you handed money to the wrong investor on your 3rd try. After you had yielded a positive result the first two times. I needed help for a little while and thank God for recovery agencies, the ones that breakdown the process of how they intend to recover your stolen funds. It's all in the subtle detail. I might have lost $5000, but 20% of that was all I needed to get my case in front of a judge. 3 weeks of negotiations and I get my money back with profit, easy. Conmen can't get away with my money when Hermes Recovery Firm is on the case. I'm so glad I messaged hermesrecoveryfirm at protonmail dot com. One step I took and the scammers were jailed to scam no more.

Be carefully because 90% of the people promising bitcoin recovery are scammer. You can recognize the scammers because they promise usually that they can recover (nearly) all bitcoin without/before analyzing any details of the specific case. E.g. if the fraudster didn't move ths stolen BTC then you usually have to be patient before tracing can start. And even if tracing is successful you have the risk that the scammer is in a jurisdiction not friendly to yours. But if your loss was not small I'd always try to catch the scammer. Successful scammers usually have to manage a lot of addresses and to stay private they should not co-spend the coins. The most of them do mistakes earlier or later and reveal their privacy. I can recommend the services btctester (where I'm a programmer) and forensicsone. After successful tracing latest you need to report it to police. You need the police to get information from the exchanges about the scammer. And anyway the police might have knowledge about other victims of the same scammer, so if one case was solved and the scammer is known you might benefit from this. The police alone howver isn't enough in most cases because they have not enough specialists so they just administrate the case and usually cannot investigate or trace the thief.
Good luck to all who lost something to scammers!
