Polling businesses on big block support?

I thought this was a good list of companies. I had posted in the slack #projects about the idea of creating a list similar to the segwit list. Although I've seen some posts talking about when big blocks are coming companies will get ready, and others bring up that if companies stick their neck out in support they will get attacked.

So its an open question to Bitcoin Unlimited members whether this would be helpful or not... There is building momentum for volunteers on this, we could do it many ways... phrase the questions in different ways. We might even be able to hold the answers in confidence until a set date if the issue of being attacked is important to the respondents...

If anyone wants to talk about it here or post ideas I think it would be nice to have a place outside of reddit where it can be kept track of.

You are absolutely right that this communication needs to be done, and it has started in an ad-hoc manner.

The first problem is that many Bitcoin businesses are gun-shy after seeing what happens on r/Bitcoin to those that speak up for larger blocks. Not only do they get bad press, but some also had DoS attacks on their websites. This was particularly bad during the XT/Classic era.

The second problem is that BU needs the level of block-solving seen only recently to open necessary doors. Back in 2013 there was a survey of businesses showing a level of support for a simple block size increase much higher than the usual ~75% support seen in general users (which I don't have a link to at present, - it may still be on bitcointalk).

Many businesses are being crushed by the high fees and increasing confirmation times. They should welcome the opportunity to scale on-chain, and we in turn welcome dialogue with all of them.

Maybe we can draft a message asking various businesses to participate on coin.dance and ping them all??

I dont believe so. It uses charlie lee quotes in a cointelegraph article for the source, however I dont believe charlie lee sets the approach the company takes.

I think arranging and holding (online) Workshops might be a way forward (actually thinking of bringing it up and arranging it for the developer side of things, to attract more developers, reviewers, etc).

Such things can readily be done with Businesses in mind.

Arrange a workshop, arrange a criteria of things to be discussed, allow some back and forth discussion time, do it once every month or so.

If you think workshops are an idea to push forward I can draw/write something up and we can go from there.
