I downloaded the BTU Bitcoin Cash client, and after importing my key the balance is zero.

How do I check that I am looking at the Bitcoin Cash chain????

https://blockchair.com/ will show you the balance for an address on both chains.

You can tell which chain you are looking at by checking the block high of each chain (toggle the Bitcoin - Bitcoin cash orange switch and you'll see the block height in the blocks window. then compare it to your node.)

BU has a version for both chains, the "official" version supports the BTC chain. you are wanting the Cash version.

Thanks for the reply.

Blockchair shows exactly what I expect, which is a balance in the Cash chain and zero on the old chain. I downloaded the Bitcoin Cash specific client.

I don't see a Bitcoin cash orange switch in the BTU Cash specific client.

Right now my client says it "No block source available" doesn't seem to be getting updates.

I am only running Bitcoin Cash clients on this particular windows machine. So what I would like to do is simply reload the entire bitcoin cash chain.

Is there a way to do this? How do I ensure I just don't reload the regular Bitcoin chain?

the switch is on this website https://blockchair.com/ front page (it shows you the block height) if you are running the BUCash clients you need to check your block high, it should be the same as the website. it may be your are not fully synced and as a result your transaction is not visible. (i think you may meed to mouse over one of the icons in the bottom right of the app to see your block height)

it can take a day or 3 to download the entire chain, I don't think you need to worry about loading the BTC chain, it will switch chains at the triggered block height.

I haven't had much luck finding an easy tool to manage my BCC. if you are not in a rush just wait until a good quality wallet from a reputable provider comes with the ability to sweep a private key. (https://coinomi.com/ has the functionality but it does not support the older private key format that I use.)

I have been using http://www.electroncash.org/ it allows me to import a private key and then broadcast a transaction to my storage addresses.

Well I am still a bit worried that something isn't quite right. I have actually tried EVERY BCC wallet except Trezor and Electron Cash. The android coinomi wallet said my address had no balance. They all seem to think my address is empty but every block explorer has a balance for my address.... frustrating. I will try another wallet for kicks, maybe electron cash is next.

If your full node doesn't sync, it won't find the money. You need it to sync. Maybe you can do a reindex, which takes a long time (a day or two).

In Classic I encountered some people having this issue and added some code to fix the most common issues. Version 1.3.8 seems to work very well for people.

It is straightforward to split and handle Bitcoin Cash using the Trezor, if you are willing to cover the expense for the dedicated hardware.
