Stop asking for gender and birthday?

This is my first post, but when I signed up I noticed the gender and birthdate field that i had to give up. Is there a reason why they are asked?

Thats absolutly true, the first time i visited this forum i didnt make an account because of the in relevant questions i had to answer. Thats what i wanted to point out, maybe there are more like me...

We have have to ask for birth dates because we're not allowed to let children sign up due to U.S. and European privacy laws. Gender is there because the forum has different avatars for males and females; it's optional.
